When these clients were building their new home, they knew they wanted a Pacific Northwest Estate with an elegant influence that showcased a water feature and fire pit. However, they didn’t quite know how to pull everything together to match their needs and design vision. Alderwood was chosen for the project after the clients reviewed our design portfolio and construction track record.
Working with the couple and the home builder, Dave Largent Homes, Alderwood Landscaping and Construction developed a functional design for the large property in just 6 weeks. Implementation began in 2013 and ended in 2015, working in phases at the clients’ request. The three phases were implemented each spring from 2013-15, taking 4-10 weeks at a time to complete.
The largest issue we encountered during this project was related to irrigation. Due to the size of the irrigation system, the design of the system, and run times, each zone had to be carefully engineered to keep everything watered.
The focal point of the property is a multi-tiered waterfall and peninsula fire pit, with the garden and sitting area balancing the space as secondary viewpoints. The waterfall was placed within view and walking distance of the primary deck, master suite deck, and basement patio for easy and quick access. Lush lawn surrounds the elements, creating a soft ribbon of color.
